 Built over two
years, beginning in 1996, this two-story, cottage-style home
takes its exterior design from architect Robert A. M. Stern. The
home blends with its site, and takes full advantage of the
valley view and morning sun. The interior design, including its
French country touches, was completely fashioned by the original
owners.
The heart of this
4450 square foot home is a great room with a 24-foot ceiling,
complete with reclaimed heartwood pine beams and a local
Mountain stone fireplace. In addition to the Great Room, the
home contains a dining room with white bead board wainscot and
chair rail; a kitchen/breakfast area with a bar and two
pantries; a utility room with plenty of space for washing/drying
clothes and potting plants; a guest bedroom suite with a
part-octagonal shape to accent views of the pasture and valley;
a library/office with a built-in desk and cabinets; a fitness
room; and finally, a private Master bedroom suite with a sitting
area and 10 windows for beautiful mountain views. Adjoining the
bedroom is a master bath filled with amenities, including double
Gibraltar sinks and countertops, a make-up area, a two-person
Jacuzzi, and a two-person walk-in tiled shower. The home also
includes a basement and a hidden, three-car garage.
Ceilings
throughout the home are 10 feet on the first floor and 9 feet on
the second. The floors radiate heat upwards into the rooms
through a unique hydroponic radiant heat system, in which hot
water is circulated in the floors. The temperature of the room
will vary only two degrees from floor to ceiling. This system is
quiet, energy efficient, and does not dry the air (as does a
heat pump).
The home sits on
11 acres and includes a sprinkler system, underground utilities,
concrete driveways, and landscape lighting. Public entrance is a
circle drive to the front door.
